Software Engineer - Full Stack

This role is suitable for a Middle-level Full Stack Software Engineer with 3–4 years of experience developing Java-based applications.

How would you design a Java-based microservice that is scalable and highly available?

I would define clear service boundaries, keep services stateless where possible, and use horizontal scaling behind a load balancer. I would also include timeouts, retries with backoff, circuit breakers, health checks, observability, and resilient data-access patterns.

How would you design and maintain a REST API for a full-stack application?

I would use resource-oriented endpoints, consistent HTTP methods and status codes, input validation, authentication and authorization, pagination, and versioning where necessary. I would document the API with an OpenAPI specification and add unit, integration, and contract tests.
