Job Description

1406 Consulting is an Elite HubSpot Solutions Partner, a distinction held by less than 1% of HubSpot partners globally. We are a values-driven, globally distributed team that believes great client outcomes come from pairing deep platform expertise with genuine partnership.

We’re seeking an experienced HubSpot Solutions Developer to join our team.

About the Role
You’ll work remotely with a dynamic team to design and implement custom HubSpot integrations, craft intuitive UI extension components, and streamline automation processes using custom coded actions. If you’re passionate about solving complex challenges and delivering impactful results, this role offers the perfect blend of creativity, collaboration, and growth.

Software Development Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom integrations between HubSpot and third-party platforms using HubSpot APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality.
  • Create custom CRM UI components with React to enhance the HubSpot user experience.
  • Build and implement custom code actions in Node or Python for HubSpot’s automation workflows, optimizing business processes.
  • Stay informed about updates to the HubSpot platform, ensuring solutions remain current and effective.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, client-focused solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with API-based software integrations, ideally involving HubSpot.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and React, with hands-on experience in Google Cloud deployment.
  • Solid understanding of HubSpot’s Marketing, Sales, Content, and Service Hubs to align integrations with the CRM ecosystem.
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HubSpot’s developer platform and relevant certifications (e.g., HubSpot Solutions Architecture or Integration).
  • Familiarity with integration tools such as Zapier, Workato, or Mulesoft, enhancing versatility in connecting platforms.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting team members, contributing to a collaborative work environment.

Why Join 1406 Consulting?

  • A collaborative, growth-oriented culture where your contributions directly shape client success and company growth.
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive healthcare and benefits package, including company-paid medical insurance and 401k matching.
  • Ongoing professional development, including HubSpot certifications and leadership coaching.

The target base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 annually (based on relevant experience and qualifications) plus performance based bonuses and benefits.

๐ŸŽฏ Who is this job for?

This role is suitable for a Mid-Level HubSpot Solutions Developer with at least four years of experience building API-based integrations, preferably within the HubSpot ecosystem.

The candidate should be skilled in Node.js, JavaScript, React, Python, Google Cloud, HubSpot APIs, and CRM architecture, with familiarity with HubSpot’s Marketing, Sales, Content, and Service Hubs.

They should be comfortable designing third-party integrations, developing React CRM UI extensions, creating custom automation actions, deploying scalable solutions, troubleshooting complex problems, and communicating with clients and cross-functional teams.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Potential Interview Questions

How would you design a scalable integration between HubSpot and a third-party CRM using HubSpot APIs?

I would define the systems of record, map objects and properties, and use authenticated REST or GraphQL requests where appropriate. I would also implement idempotency, retries with exponential backoff, rate-limit handling, structured logging, and monitoring to ensure reliable synchronization.

How do you handle HubSpot API rate limits and transient failures in an integration?

I would inspect rate-limit headers, throttle requests, queue work, and apply exponential backoff with jitter for transient errors. Requests should be retried safely through idempotent operations, while permanent failures are logged and routed to a dead-letter or review process.

How would you build a custom CRM UI extension using React?

I would create a component-based React interface using HubSpot’s extension framework and follow HubSpot’s authentication and data-access patterns. I would prioritize clear state management, loading and error states, responsive behavior, accessibility, and minimal API calls.

What are custom-coded workflow actions in HubSpot, and when would you use them?

Custom-coded actions are server-side functions, commonly written in Node.js or Python, that execute as part of HubSpot workflows. I would use them for business logic or integrations that cannot be implemented with native workflow actions, while keeping execution efficient, secure, and observable.

How would you secure a HubSpot integration deployed to Google Cloud?

I would store OAuth credentials, API keys, and secrets in Google Secret Manager rather than source code or environment files committed to a repository. I would use least-privilege service accounts, encrypted transport, restricted IAM permissions, audit logging, and regular credential rotation.

How do you approach OAuth authentication for HubSpot apps?

I would implement the authorization-code flow, validate the callback and state parameter, securely store access and refresh tokens, and refresh tokens before expiration. The integration should request only the scopes required for its functionality and handle revoked permissions gracefully.

How would you synchronize HubSpot records with an external system without creating duplicates?

I would establish a stable external identifier and maintain a mapping between system IDs. Synchronization logic would use upsert operations, normalize fields consistently, detect conflicting updates, and make repeated messages safe through idempotency keys or deduplication checks.

How would you test a Node.js integration that interacts with HubSpot APIs?

I would use unit tests with mocked API clients for transformation and error-handling logic, integration tests against a controlled HubSpot environment, and end-to-end tests for critical workflows. I would also test rate limits, malformed data, expired tokens, retries, pagination, and partial failures.

How do HubSpot Marketing, Sales, Content, and Service Hubs affect solution design?

Each Hub has different objects, workflows, permissions, and business processes, so I would first understand the client’s operational goals and data model. The integration should preserve lifecycle context across contacts, companies, deals, tickets, content, and marketing activity while respecting hub-specific constraints.

How would you design monitoring and troubleshooting for a production HubSpot integration?

I would use structured logs, correlation IDs, metrics for request volume and failure rates, and alerts for authentication errors, rate limiting, latency, and synchronization gaps. A retry queue, clear runbooks, and customer-facing status information would help the team diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
