🎯 Who is this job for?
This position is suitable for a Middle-level Full Stack Engineer with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, proven web application experience, and a strong portfolio. The candidate should be skilled in modern front-end and back-end development, Node.js, Python or Java, RESTful APIs, performance optimization, debugging, code reviews, and building AI agents and skills. They should be familiar with designing scalable features, collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring responsive user experiences, and maintaining robust web applications.
💬 Potential Interview Questions
How would you design a scalable full-stack architecture for Souk’s marketplace platform?
I would separate the application into well-defined front-end, API, and data layers, using modular services and horizontal scaling where appropriate. I would also introduce caching, database indexing, asynchronous processing, and monitoring to support growth and reliability.
How would you design a RESTful API for buyers, sellers, products, and orders?
I would use resource-oriented endpoints, appropriate HTTP methods and status codes, consistent validation, pagination, filtering, and versioning. Authentication, authorization, idempotency, and clear error responses would be essential for a reliable API.
What techniques would you use to optimize performance across devices and browsers?
I would measure performance using browser and server-side monitoring, then optimize bundle sizes, lazy-load resources, use responsive design, and apply caching and content delivery networks. On the back end, I would profile slow endpoints, optimize queries, and use asynchronous processing for expensive tasks.
How would you secure a Node.js, Python, or Java back-end application?
I would implement strong authentication and role-based authorization, validate and sanitize all inputs, protect secrets, and use secure headers, rate limiting, and encrypted transport. I would also manage dependencies carefully and log security-relevant events without exposing sensitive data.
How would you handle consistency and concurrency when multiple users purchase the same item?
I would enforce inventory constraints at the database level using transactions, row locking, or optimistic concurrency control. For distributed workflows, I would combine idempotency keys with reliable events and reconciliation processes to prevent duplicate or oversold orders.
How would you approach building an AI agent and its associated skills?
I would define the agent’s goals, tools, permissions, and expected outputs, then implement skills as narrowly scoped, validated functions exposed through secure interfaces. I would add guardrails, structured tool calls, observability, evaluation datasets, and fallback behavior for uncertain or unsafe responses.
How would you integrate an AI agent into a production web application?
I would place the agent behind a back-end service that handles authentication, prompt and tool orchestration, rate limits, and data access controls. Streaming responses, timeouts, retries, audit logs, cost monitoring, and human escalation would help provide a reliable user experience.
How do you troubleshoot a complex issue that occurs only in production?
I would first use logs, metrics, traces, error reports, and recent deployment history to narrow the problem. After reproducing it safely, I would mitigate customer impact, identify the root cause, deploy a tested fix, and document preventive improvements.
What should you consider when designing automated tests for a full-stack application?
I would combine unit tests for business logic, integration tests for APIs and databases, and end-to-end tests for critical buyer and seller journeys. Tests should run in CI, use isolated test data, cover failure cases, and avoid excessive reliance on brittle UI selectors.
What do you look for during code reviews, and how do you improve development practices?
I look for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, test coverage, and consistency with established architecture and conventions. I provide specific, respectful feedback and support improvements such as automated checks, clear documentation, and small, reviewable pull requests.
