π― Who is this job for?
This role is ideal for a Senior Frontend Engineer with 7+ years of experience and deep expertise in React and Next.js, plus strong knowledge of GraphQL and data-fetching tools like TanStack Query. It suits someone comfortable translating Figma designs into polished, accessible UI using modern design systems (MUI, Tailwind, ShadCN) and writing well-tested code with Jest and Testing Library. You should be able to influence technical decisions, optimize performance and UX, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-growing startup environment.
π¬ Potential Interview Questions
-
How would you architect a scalable Next.js application for a consumer engagement and loyalty platform?
I would structure the app using the App Router with clear separation between server and client components, modular feature folders, and reusable UI components. I’d ensure scalability through efficient data fetching patterns, caching strategies, and clean domain boundaries. -
How do you integrate GraphQL APIs in a React/Next.js application using TanStack Query?
I create typed GraphQL queries/mutations and wrap them with TanStack Query hooks to manage caching, background refetching, and optimistic updates. This ensures predictable server-state management and improved UX performance. -
What strategies do you use to optimize performance in a high-traffic consumer web app?
I leverage SSR/SSG where appropriate, minimize client-side JavaScript, implement code-splitting, and optimize images and fonts. Monitoring Core Web Vitals helps guide continuous performance improvements. -
How do you translate complex Figma designs into accessible, production-ready UI?
I break designs into reusable components aligned with atomic design principles, ensuring semantic HTML and WCAG compliance. I collaborate closely with designers to clarify edge cases and maintain visual fidelity. -
Describe your approach to building and maintaining a design system using tools like MUI, Tailwind, or ShadCN.
I create composable, theme-aware components with consistent tokens for spacing, typography, and colors. Documentation and Storybook-style examples help ensure cross-team adoption and consistency. -
How do you ensure code quality and reliability in a React codebase?
I write unit and integration tests using Jest and Testing Library, enforce linting and formatting standards, and conduct thorough code reviews. CI pipelines enforce coverage thresholds and prevent regressions. -
How would you handle complex state management in a feature-rich engagement platform?
I distinguish between server state (managed via TanStack Query) and client state (managed with React context or lightweight state libraries). This separation keeps data flows predictable and components easier to maintain. -
How do you approach building B2B and B2C features within the same frontend platform?
I design flexible component abstractions and feature flags to support role-based experiences. Clear domain modeling ensures that shared logic is reusable while preserving tailored user journeys. -
What is your experience with accessibility (a11y) in modern React applications?
I use semantic HTML, ARIA attributes where necessary, ensure keyboard navigation, and validate color contrast. Automated tools and manual testing help confirm WCAG compliance. -
How do you contribute to prioritization and technical decision-making in a fast-growing startup?
I provide input based on technical feasibility, scalability, and long-term maintainability. By balancing quick iteration with architectural discipline, I help the team ship value without accumulating unnecessary technical debt.
