Job Description

MaintainX is a leading mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. More than 13,000 customers, including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL and Volvo, use MaintainX to cut unplanned downtime and run better operations, across 13.9 million managed assets and 79.5 million completed work orders.

In August 2026 MaintainX became part of Autodesk, joining Autodesk Operations Solutions, the organization unifying Autodesk's operations platform alongside Tandem, FlexSim and Fusion Operations. Autodesk's strategy is to converge design, make and operate into one continuous lifecycle: design an asset, build it, run it, then feed what you learn running it back into the next design. Autodesk had design and make. Operate is the phase that tells you what actually happened, and it is ours.

The Integration Developer is a key member of our post-sales team, working with Integration Consultants to design, build, and deliver custom integration solutions for our clients. The role calls for technical depth, a solid grasp of integration technologies, and a collaborative approach.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Integration Consultants to understand client requirements and business processes.

  • Design, develop, and implement custom integrations using our Open REST APIs, connectors, and data transformation techniques.

  • Advise Integration Consultants and clients on how to best use our Open REST APIs.

  • Work with the MaintainX Engineering and Product teams to prioritize customer integration requirements.

  • Ensure reliability, security, and performance through rigorous testing and quality assurance.

  • Debug and troubleshoot issues during integration, and provide ongoing support to keep client projects running smoothly.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, and communicate project status to internal teams and clients.

  • Contribute to project planning, scoping, and timeline management.

About you:

  • 3+ years of experience in software development (solutions architecture, software engineering, or similar).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, APIs, middleware platforms, and data transformation.

  • Knowledge of our tech stack: TypeScript / NodeJS / React / React Native / MySQL.

  • Ability to organize and consolidate customer data from various formats and source applications.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, and scrappy enough to think on your feet for customers.

  • Detail and process-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication and the ability to manage projects across internal and external stakeholders.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with ERPs such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics AX, or Sage Intacct.

  • Experience in manufacturing, or knowledge of IoT sensors, historians, SCADA, PLCs, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

  • Familiarity with integration tools such as Workato, Tray.io, or Zapier.

Our mission is to keep the physical world running. Factories, fleets, hospitals and campuses stay up because the people who maintain them have tools worth using. That is what we build.

Compensation and benefits. Base pay is one part of the package. Depending on the role, compensation may also include commission, an annual bonus and equity. Benefits differ by country. For roles in the United States, Autodesk’s benefits are described at benefits.autodesk.com. For roles in Canada and other countries, the plan differs on health coverage, retirement and leave, and your recruiter will walk you through it.

Belonging. We take pride in a culture where everyone can thrive. More at autodesk.com/company/global-belonging. More on where this is going: Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost on building the future of connected operations, and AOS SVP Stephen Hooper on welcoming MaintainX to Autodesk.

๐ŸŽฏ Who is this job for?

This role is suitable for a Middle-level Integration Developer with 3+ years of software development experience and a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field.

The candidate should be skilled in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, REST APIs, middleware, data transformation, MySQL, and ideally React, with strong debugging, documentation, communication, and project coordination abilities.

They should be familiar with translating business requirements into technical solutions, consolidating data from multiple systems, building and testing custom integrations, troubleshooting client issues, and collaborating with consultants, customers, product, and engineering teams.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Potential Interview Questions

How would you design an integration between an ERP system and MaintainX using an Open REST API?

I would first map the source and target data models, identify required workflows, and define authentication, error handling, and synchronization patterns. I would then implement the integration in TypeScript and Node.js, using modular API clients, transformations, validation, retries, logging, and automated tests.

How would you handle authentication and security for a customer-facing API integration?

I would use the supported authentication mechanism, securely store credentials or tokens, apply least-privilege access, and never log secrets or sensitive payloads. I would also validate inputs, enforce HTTPS, rotate credentials where possible, and monitor authentication failures.

How would you transform data from multiple source systems into a consistent MaintainX format?

I would define a canonical data model and create explicit mapping and normalization rules for fields, identifiers, dates, units, and enumerations. The transformation layer should validate required fields, handle missing or inconsistent values, and produce actionable errors for records that cannot be processed.

What strategies would you use to make an integration reliable and idempotent?

I would use stable external identifiers, deduplication checks, and upsert-style operations so that retries do not create duplicate records. I would also implement retries with exponential backoff, dead-letter or exception handling, checkpointing, and structured monitoring.

How would you debug an integration that intermittently fails in production?

I would correlate logs using request or transaction IDs and examine API responses, timing, payloads, rate limits, and downstream dependencies. After reproducing the issue where possible, I would isolate the failure, add targeted instrumentation or tests, and document both the root cause and preventive fix.

How would you design a Node.js service that processes large volumes of work orders?

I would avoid blocking the event loop, process records in controlled batches, and use pagination, queues, concurrency limits, and backpressure. I would also make processing resumable, monitor memory and latency, and ensure each operation is safe to retry.

How would you test a custom REST integration before delivering it to a client?

I would use unit tests for mappings and business rules, contract tests for API schemas, integration tests against controlled environments, and end-to-end tests for representative workflows. I would also test authentication failures, malformed data, timeouts, rate limits, retries, duplicate events, and partial outages.

How would you manage API versioning and changes from an ERP or MaintainX?

I would isolate API-specific code behind versioned adapters, monitor deprecation notices, and use contract tests to detect breaking changes early. Changes should be deployed through a controlled process with backward compatibility, migration planning, and clear client documentation.

How would you integrate systems using Workato, Tray.io, or Zapier while retaining custom code where necessary?

I would use the automation platform for standard triggers, connectors, routing, and simple transformations, while placing complex logic, high-volume processing, or specialized error handling in a Node.js service. Webhooks, queues, and clear ownership boundaries would help keep the solution observable and maintainable.

How would you translate an ambiguous customer business process into a technical integration design?

I would document the current and desired workflows, identify systems of record, events, data ownership, timing requirements, exceptions, and success criteria. I would then propose a scoped design with assumptions, risks, API mappings, milestones, and a validation plan for both the consultant and the client.
