🎯 Who is this job for?
This role is suitable for a Senior Front-End Engineer with 5+ years of experience specializing in React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and scalable component architecture.
The ideal candidate should be skilled in state management, performance optimization, accessibility, design systems, API integration, and creating polished, high-quality user interfaces.
They should be familiar with building complex web applications from scratch, translating complex data into intuitive experiences, collaborating with backend, product, and design teams, and working with Node.js, APIs, and PostgreSQL when needed.
💬 Potential Interview Questions
How would you structure a scalable React and TypeScript component architecture for a complex real estate platform?
I would organize components by domain and responsibility, separating reusable design-system primitives from feature-specific components. I would use strict TypeScript interfaces, composition, controlled boundaries, and clear data-flow patterns to keep the system maintainable and scalable.
How would you decide between server-side rendering, static generation, and client-side rendering in Next.js?
Property listings and SEO-sensitive pages would typically use server-side rendering or static generation with revalidation, depending on how frequently the data changes. Highly interactive features such as saved searches or filters could use client-side rendering on top of server-rendered content.
How would you optimize the performance of a Next.js application containing large property listings and high-resolution images?
I would use image optimization, responsive image sizes, lazy loading, pagination or virtualization, code splitting, and efficient caching. I would also measure Core Web Vitals and use profiling tools to identify unnecessary renders, large bundles, and slow API requests.
How would you implement responsive layouts for property search and detail pages?
I would use a mobile-first approach with CSS Grid, Flexbox, fluid sizing, and carefully defined breakpoints based on content needs. I would validate layouts across real device sizes and ensure that interactive controls, galleries, maps, and filtering workflows remain usable on smaller screens.
How would you design state management for filters, search parameters, user preferences, and server data?
I would keep local UI state within components, synchronize shareable search criteria with URL parameters, and use a dedicated server-state solution for caching and request lifecycles. Global state would be reserved for cross-cutting concerns such as authentication, favorites, or user preferences.
How would you integrate a backend API when the property data model is complex or inconsistent?
I would define typed API contracts, validate responses at the boundary, normalize data where appropriate, and create frontend adapters that expose a stable view model to components. I would also handle loading, empty, error, and partial-data states explicitly so the UI remains resilient.
How would you build reusable components that remain consistent with a design system?
I would establish accessible primitives for elements such as buttons, inputs, dialogs, cards, and typography, then compose them into domain components. Shared tokens, documented variants, and visual testing would help maintain consistency while allowing product-specific flexibility.
What accessibility practices would you apply to a real estate web application?
I would use semantic HTML, keyboard-accessible controls, visible focus states, appropriate labels, correct heading structure, sufficient color contrast, and meaningful alternative text. I would also test with automated tools and screen readers, especially for filters, maps, carousels, dialogs, and dynamic updates.
How would you prevent unnecessary React re-renders in a data-intensive interface?
I would first profile the application, then address issues through component decomposition, stable props, appropriate memoization, selector-based state access, and virtualization where needed. I would avoid premature optimization and ensure that memoization does not make the code harder to understand without measurable benefit.
How would you collaborate with backend engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to deliver a polished feature?
I would clarify API contracts, edge cases, responsive behavior, accessibility requirements, and acceptance criteria early in the process. I would use shared design references, early prototypes, incremental reviews, and clear communication to resolve trade-offs while preserving both technical quality and visual fidelity.
