Job Description
Own your future
Our culture isn’t something people join, it’s something they build and shape. We believe that every person deserves to be heard and empowered. If you’re on the fence about whether you’re a fit, we say go for it. Let’s build something great together.
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of professional experience in frontend development, with production React work throughout.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and extensive experience building complex web applications with React.js (React 19).
- Experience developing and maintaining NPM packages
- Hands-on experience with Vite, npm packaging, and dependency management, including upgrading and absorbing breaking changes.
- Deep experience consuming design systems: tokens, theming, and component composition.
- Strong skills in mobile-accurate responsive CSS and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding tools.
- Experience writing design system documentation
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner directly with designers and gather requirements through conversation rather than written specs.
- A proactive, self-directed mindset: able to drive discovery independently, make sound product calls on prototype fidelity, and work effectively as a team of one.
- Upper-intermediate+ level of English.
Nice to Have
- Experience running POC projects
- Familiarity with Figma Dev Mode, Code Connect, or MCP design-to-code tooling.
- Familiarity with static deployments and CI pipelines
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and audit complex existing components, including dependencies, gaps and risk
- Evaluate third party libraries that offer similar functionality, map current capabilities with each candidate library, identify support features, gaps and required customization
- Build selected components using the chosen library
- Ensure accessibility and responsiveness standards
- Work independently on search heavy tasks that require persistence and attention to details.
- Collaborate closely with designers, the design system team, and product engineering
- Conduct code reviews of product team contributions against design system standards.
- Write clear documentation and context files for designers, engineers, and AI agents working in the repo.

🎯 Who is this job for?
This role is suitable for a Senior Front-End Engineer with 5+ years of professional experience and strong production expertise in React, React 19, and TypeScript.
The candidate should be skilled in NPM package development, Vite, dependency management, design systems, responsive CSS, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, documentation, code reviews, CI pipelines, and AI-assisted development.
They should be comfortable independently auditing complex components, evaluating and integrating third-party libraries, building accessible responsive components, conducting POCs, collaborating with designers and engineers, and making product decisions in English.
💬 Potential Interview Questions
How would you structure a complex React 19 component in TypeScript to keep it maintainable and reusable?
I would separate state management, business logic, presentation, and accessibility concerns where practical. I would use well-defined TypeScript interfaces, composable subcomponents, controlled or uncontrolled patterns consistently, and tests for critical behavior.
What should you consider when upgrading a React application or NPM dependency that includes breaking changes?
I would review the release notes and migration guide, audit direct and transitive usage, and update the dependency in an isolated branch. I would run type checks, unit and integration tests, visual regression checks, and verify behavior in supported browsers before merging.
How would you package and publish a reusable TypeScript component library with Vite?
I would configure Vite in library mode with appropriate entry points, generate declaration files, mark React and other peer dependencies correctly, and define ESM or CommonJS outputs as needed. The package would include exports, types, versioning, build validation, and automated publishing through CI.
How do you investigate an existing component before deciding whether to rebuild or replace it?
I would inspect its API, dependencies, usage patterns, accessibility behavior, responsive logic, test coverage, and known defects. I would document capability gaps, maintenance risks, and customization costs before comparing it with alternative libraries.
How would you evaluate a third-party component library for use in a design system?
I would compare its functionality, accessibility, theming model, API flexibility, bundle impact, documentation, maintenance activity, and licensing. I would build a small proof of concept to verify integration with the existing design tokens and identify customization or migration risks.
How do you implement design tokens and theming in a React design system?
I would represent tokens such as color, spacing, typography, and elevation through a consistent semantic layer, commonly using CSS custom properties. Themes can then override semantic variables while components consume tokens rather than hard-coded values.
How would you make a component responsive and accurate on mobile devices?
I would start from the smallest supported viewport and use fluid layouts, appropriate breakpoints, flexible sizing, and touch-friendly controls. I would validate the implementation with real device sizes, browser developer tools, and visual comparison against the design.
What steps do you take to meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements in a component?
I check semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus visibility and order, accessible names, contrast, error messaging, screen-reader behavior, and reduced-motion preferences. I combine automated tooling such as axe with manual keyboard and assistive-technology testing.
How would you use GitHub Copilot or another AI coding tool responsibly in a production repository?
I would use it to accelerate exploration, boilerplate, tests, and documentation, but I would verify every suggestion for correctness, security, accessibility, licensing, and project conventions. AI-generated code must still pass review, tests, type checks, and design-system standards.
What should good design system documentation and repository context files contain?
They should explain component purpose, usage, APIs, variants, tokens, composition patterns, accessibility requirements, responsive behavior, limitations, and examples. Context files should also describe repository conventions, validation commands, dependencies, and guidance for engineers, designers, and AI agents.
📋 Job Summary
