Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Frontend Engineer (React.js) with 4–7years of professional experience, ideally gained in fast-paced startup environments. This role requires strong expertise in building modern, scalable, and high-performance user interfaces, with the added advantage of familiarity with backend technologies such as Node.js. You will play a key role in shaping our product’s user experience, collaborating across teams, and driving technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Frontend Development (React.js):
Architect, develop, and optimize responsive, intuitive, and high-performing web applications using React.js and its ecosystem (Redux, Context API, Next.js).
Ensure accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and performance best practices.
Implement reusable components and maintainable code structures.
• Backend Collaboration (Node.js):
Work closely with backend engineers to integrate APIs seamlessly into the frontend.
Contribute to backend discussions and provide input on Node.js services when needed.
• Product & Design Partnership:
Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions.
Advocate for design consistency and usability across the platform.
• Quality & Delivery:
Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure high-quality releases.
Take ownership of feature delivery, ensuring timelines and standards are met.
• Team Contribution:
Engage, Learn, and Share best practices.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 4–6 years of professional experience in frontend engineering, preferably in startups.
- Strong expertise in React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
- Experience with state management libraries (Redux, Context API) and frameworks like Next.js.
- Familiarity with backend development using Node.js and API integration patterns.
- Understanding of frontend performance optimization, accessibility standards, and security best practices.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
🎯 Who is this job for?
This role is suitable for a Senior Frontend Engineer with 4–7 years of professional experience, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.
The candidate should be skilled in React.js, JavaScript ES6+, Redux, Context API, Next.js, HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, API integration, accessibility, performance optimization, and frontend security, with familiarity with Node.js and optionally cloud platforms and containerization.
They should be experienced in building scalable and reusable interfaces, collaborating with designers and product managers, integrating backend APIs, conducting code reviews and testing, contributing to CI/CD, and owning feature delivery from development through release.
💬 Potential Interview Questions
How would you structure a scalable React.js application for a growing product?
I would organize the application by features or domains, separating reusable UI components, state management, API services, and business logic. I would also establish clear conventions for routing, error handling, testing, and shared utilities to keep the codebase maintainable.
When would you use Redux instead of the Context API?
Context API is suitable for relatively simple, low-frequency global state such as themes or authentication. I would use Redux for complex, frequently updated state that requires predictable updates, middleware, debugging tools, and clear separation of actions and reducers.
How would you optimize the performance of a React application?
I would measure performance first using tools such as Lighthouse and React Profiler, then apply code splitting, lazy loading, memoization, list virtualization, optimized images, and efficient state updates. I would also minimize unnecessary renders and monitor Core Web Vitals.
What are the main advantages of using Next.js?
Next.js provides server-side rendering, static generation, routing, image optimization, and API integration out of the box. These capabilities can improve initial load performance, SEO, and the overall developer experience.
How do you integrate a React frontend with Node.js APIs?
I define clear API contracts, create a dedicated client or service layer, and handle loading, success, validation, and error states consistently. I also consider authentication, request cancellation, retries where appropriate, and schema validation for reliable integration.
How would you ensure a React application is accessible?
I would use semantic HTML, correct heading structure, keyboard navigation, visible focus states, accessible form labels, and appropriate ARIA attributes only when necessary. I would validate the implementation with automated tools and manual screen-reader and keyboard testing.
What frontend security practices should be applied when consuming APIs?
I would protect against XSS by escaping or sanitizing untrusted content, avoid unsafe HTML injection, use secure authentication flows, and never expose secrets in client-side code. I would also enforce HTTPS, validate inputs, and follow appropriate CORS and Content Security Policy configurations.
How do you design reusable React components?
I keep components focused on a single responsibility, expose clear and minimal props, and separate presentation from business logic when useful. Components should support composition, predictable states, accessibility, and consistent styling without becoming overly configurable.
How would you approach responsive and cross-browser UI development?
I would use mobile-first CSS, flexible layouts with Flexbox or Grid, responsive breakpoints, and progressive enhancement. I would test on supported browsers and devices, use standards-based features, and provide fallbacks where browser differences affect functionality.
What is your role in code reviews and CI/CD for frontend delivery?
In reviews, I check correctness, maintainability, accessibility, performance, security, and test coverage while providing constructive feedback. In CI/CD, I expect automated linting, type checks, unit and integration tests, production builds, and controlled deployment steps, potentially using Docker and cloud infrastructure.
