We are hiring a Full Stack Engineer to help manage, expand and oversee our rapidly growing portfolio of federal contracts.
What you'll be doing:
You’ll contribute to both front-end and back-end development of form-related services and features on VA.gov. This includes building reusable React components that follow the VA Design System, implementing dynamic schema-based forms, managing data validation, and developing secure APIs that support submission workflows. You’ll help modernize legacy form infrastructure, optimize user experience, and ensure your work is performant, testable, and compliant with 508 accessibility and security standards.
What you’ll bring:
- 4+ years of experience in full stack development
- Strong experience with JavaScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and REST APIs
- Expertise in Drupal site building, theming, and custom module development using PHP and front-end technologies.
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and Git workflows
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Understanding of accessibility best practices and web standards (WCAG, Section 508)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in Agile environments
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or federal agencies
- Familiarity with JSON Schema Form libraries (e.g., react-jsonschema-form)
- Knowledge of VA.gov architecture and building forms on VA.gov
- Experience with automated testing and 508 scanning tools (e.g., Axe, pa11y)
